From 1989 to 1995 Billy West helped launch his career on The Howard Stern show bringing us some amazing voices and also some outstanding impressions, most notably and Howard’s favorite, Larry Fine of the Three Stooges. Well, the talented and funny voice over actor may not have much to speak about in the near future.

“Good new everyone!” 20th Century Fox recently announced that they have ordered 26 new episodes of Futurama, the popular cartoon based 1000 years in the future, to be aired beginning in 2010. The success of DVD sales and re-runds on Comedy Central have brought the show back into popularity and prompted Fox to make a move. Billy West was a key role in the shows production, voicing over four of the shows main characters and a countless number of additional voices. Why is this so significant for Mr. West?

Fox has entered production of the show with a certain budget ($75,000) for the voice over talents. The problem is the actors can’t come to a salary agreement with Fox that will make both parties happy. Fox says it will begin going through the process of recasting the voice over talents since an agreement can’t be reached.

“We love the ‘Futurama’ voice performers and absolutely wanted to use them, but unfortunately, we could not meet their salary demands,” 20th Century Fox TV said in a statement. “While replacing these talented actors will be difficult, the show must go on.”

Fox has also gone this route before during some tough negotiations with another popular cartoon, “The Simpsons”. The studio had threatened to replace the voice talents on the show when it couldn’t come to an agreement with the actors. Auditions for replacements were about to begin but an agreement was finally made with the actors.

So who will be the voice of Philip J. Fry, Professor Hubert Farnsworth, Dr John Zoidberg, Captain Zapp Brannigan and many others? Billy West hasn’t made an official statement to the public about the situation but I’m sure the former Stern show personality isn’t happy with the situation. The wouldn’t be the first time Mr. West has had a problem with being compensated for his work. In 1995 Billy West reportedly left the Howard Stern show because WXRK/CBS management refused to give him a sufficient pay raise. Billy is greatly missed by Stern show staff and fans.

UPDATE:

It has recently been confirmed that Billy West and the rest of the original cast of Futurama will be joining the show as it returns with new episodes to be aired on Comedy Central next year. Apparently a salary deal has been struck with 20th Century Fox and the cast joined creator Matt Groening at Comic-Con last week to sign autographs and help promote the return of the show. Good news all around for Futurama and Stern show fans of Billy West!

Looking for a In-Dash SIRIUS for you car? Have you been told it isn’t available?

Some cars will not be able to have In-Dash SIRIUS available, so I am going to guide you through and find you a setup perfect for you!

-This is a Vehicle Specific Mount. It mounts your SIRIUS radio in a predetermined place and it becomes a hard mounted and stable bolt platform for your SIRIUS radio mount. It will give you a clean look and adds a factory installed look when paired with the the power and audio hard-wire kits below.

-This is a SIRIUS Power Hardwire Kit. This will be installed to a 12v power-line in your vehicle. This will add to the factory look and greatly minimize the amount of cables that can be seen.

Now the next section it depends on your car.

Question #1-Do you have an AUX-In plug?

An AUX-In plug looks like this:

Answer #1-IF YOU HAVE THIS, GREAT! You can buy any SIRIUS Radio and feel confident that you will get the best audio sound quality. All you need is a SIRIUS Radio ,Vehicle Specific Mount , Power Hard-Wire Kit and An Aux-In Cable. The Aux-In Cable will plug from this port on your car stereo and then into the AUDIO OUT on the SIRIUS Dock.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THIS PLUG ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR STEREO THEN SEE BELOW.

We have three options:

A Cassette Audio Adapter for cars that have a cassette deck. This may (for some) be the best solution. If you have that cassette deck in your car, then you simply plug this into the cassette and the AUDIO OUT of the SIRIUS Radio Dock.

An FM Direct Adapter. This is a device that will eliminate static from your SIRIUS Setup. This plugs into the back of your car stereo(in the am/FM antenna port) and then a long cable routes and plugs into the FM OUT of the SIRIUS Radio dock. This is a very cost/effective solution for most any vehicle. NOTE: some cars may need FM antenna adapters found HERE

An Auxiliary Input Device. This will give you CD quality sound from your SIRIUS Radio. All you have to do is plug this into the CD Changer Port or Sat port on the back of the Car stereo head-unit. This will run up to the SIRIUS Radio car dock and plug into the AUDIO OUT port on the SIRIUS Dock. This is the most effective way to get audio into your car.

So If you have a car that does not have a In-Dash SIRIUS Unit available Please Email me and I can help you setup something that looks great and gives you that SIRIUS Radio you desire. EMAIL ME Be sure to include your make model and Year!

The FM Direct Adapter (Wired Relay) is a great solution for overcoming poor FM signal. How this works is you pull your car stereo out and plug one end of this unit into your car stereo, then you plug your car’s FM antenna into this unit, and then there is a long cable that plugs right to the back of your docking station. It blocks out every other signal on the channel you are trying to use and taps it directly into the FM antenna so you get the best possible quality sound using the FM transmitter.Below are two videos that were created to display the function of this units.

NOTE: Some cars may need FM antenna adapters, because the car’s antenna is not the standard size. If you are unsure of which adapter you need see FM Antenna Adapters.

If you have been researching in-dash Sirius you most likely have heard terms like tuner and translator. This is a simple explanation of what these terms mean to you.

Tuner: a tuner is the device that receives the Sirius Satellite signal. It may also be referred to as being a receiver. The tuner may be a Dock and Play Sirius Radio or the in dash SIRIUS Connect Vehicle Tuner SCC1. To use a Dock and Play Radio you only need the car kit, but to use the SCC1 you MUST have a translator.

Translator: this is the unit that will translate to the SIRIUS signal to your specific car stereo. If you have a Pioneer you will need the SIRIUS Connect Vehicle Tuner SCC1 and the Pioneer SIRIUS Connect Interface CD-SB10, and so on with each specific car stereo.

IF YOU HAVE A DOCK AND PLAY RADIO AND WANT TO CONTROL IT THROUGH THE CAR STEREO SEE HERE

(example)If you have a SIRIUS Sportster 4 SP4TK1 and want to control it through your headunit, you will need the SIRIUS Connect Vehicle Kit SCVDOC1 and the translator for your headunit.

Here is a list of translators and the stereos they are compatible with:

As you can see in the video, installing a Vehicle Specific Mount can be quite easy. Please keep in mind, however, that the difficulty does vary depending on the model of your car.

All the new Sirius radios have the same weaker FM transmitter, there I’ll just say it. Now that we got that out of the way we can begin to solve this dilemma.

It does not matter why or really who turned down the transmitting signal in most FM Transmitters sold today( Sirius radios included). What really matters is what can we, together, can solve it.

Almost any car has the ability to solve the weak FM problem. There are typically three solutions, listed in order from good to best:

The Tape Cassette Adapter
This device is simple. Remember when walkman CD players first came out? And you rushed out and bought one, but couldn’t listen to it in the car. And then someone handed you a cassette with a audio cable coming out of it. That was a Tape Cassette Adapter. It allows you to play any audio device that has a headphone jack( IPOD, CD Walkman, Sirius, etc) through your car stereo’s tape deck. If you do have a Tape deck this is the most painless way to directly connect your Sirius Radio.

The FM Direct Adapter
Some people feel this is lesser quality sound than the Cassette adapter, which I half agree, but I ranked this higher because it does not have that pesky audio cable running from you tape deck to the back of you Sirius radio dock. It gets installed into the car’s antenna and then has a cable to run to the FM OUT of the Sirius dock. This gives you a more hardwired look and still provides you with adequate FM reception. It is a great solution for a semi-permanent application like Company cars, leased cars, and Semi-Rigs.

Aux-Input Device
This is the BEST way to connect to radio. These devices plug into the CD Changer port on most car stereos and gives a set of RCA line inputs. The RCA inputs can be connected to any audio device via appropriate patch cable. Some car stereos are not enabled however, so be sure to refer to our website for compatibility charts.

For in-home FM transmitting see this product: Whole House FM Transmitter

If you have any questions of concerns about the products described above feel free to visit our website or call us here and we will be more than glad to give you a more detailed list of products that may be available for you car.

In the portable SIRIUS satellite radio world there are only two serious contenders..no pun intended.

SIRIUS Stiletto 100
This radio is was revolutionary for its time. Combining the ability to listen to live satellite radio via the built in satellite antenna and battery and the ability to connect to Wi-Fi wireless internet. When the Stiletto came out it was long sought after by Sirius fans and prized by the individuals who owned them. The few downsides to the glorious Stiletto 100 are its limited 100 hour internal memory and painful antenna headphones(both remedied by the Stiletto 2).

SIRIUS Stiletto 2
The Stiletto 2 is a vision into portable Sirius radio’s future. It combines all the Stiletto 100 strengths and none of its weaknesses. A <a href="http://www.tss-radio.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=pny" advanced_search_result.php?keywords="pny">MicroSD card slot for expanded MP3 storage and a set of comfortable and stylish Altec Lansing antenna headphones adds to its already awesome arsenal. Only after holding the Stiletto 2 can you really appreciate its eminence and glory.

Both are a wise choice if your thinking about upgrading, but if you want to be on the forefront of Sirius’s technology the Stiletto 2 is the way to go!
